FontSnap ("the extension", "we", "our") is a Chrome browser extension that detects and displays the fonts used on
a webpage. This policy explains what data FontSnap accesses, how it is used, and what it does not do.
In short: FontSnap does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. All font
detection happens locally in your browser.
1. What FontSnap Accesses
When you click the FontSnap icon on a webpage, the extension reads publicly available style information from that
page, including:
Computed CSS font properties (font-family, font-weight, font-size)
Font source information (e.g. whether a font is loaded from Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, self-hosted, or is a
system font)
This information is read directly from the page's rendered styles using standard browser APIs. FontSnap does not
read page content unrelated to typography, and does not access form fields, passwords, cookies, or personal
identifiers.
2. What FontSnap Does Not Do
FontSnap does not collect or transmit any data to external servers.
FontSnap does not track your browsing history or activity across websites.
FontSnap does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts.
FontSnap does not sell or share data with third parties, because no user data is collected in the first place.
FontSnap does not run automatically in the background — it only activates when you click the extension icon on
a page.
3. Local Storage
FontSnap may use Chrome's local storage API to remember your extension preferences and UI settings (such as the
last-used display options) between sessions. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and is
not linked to your identity.
4. Permissions Explained
activeTab — allows FontSnap to read style data only from the tab you actively engage with,
only when you click the icon.
Host permission — allows the content script to run on the current page to read its computed
styles.
Scripting — used to inject the script that scans the page's fonts and displays the results
overlay.
Storage — used only to save your local preferences, as described in Section 3.
5. Children's Privacy
FontSnap is a developer/design tool not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from
anyone, including children.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
